Batch Process Images add-on for ProductCart

Save time resizing and uploading your product images. Let this handy add-on do most all of the work for you – in batches!

This add-on for ProductCart enables you to batch upload hundreds of products at a time – dynamically regenerating your detail, general and thumbnail images at the push of a button while simultaneously updating your database in one simple process.

All you have to do is name the largest version of your product image by the product SKU, FTP them all up to a temporary repository, and then click a button to initiate the magic. Additional product views are also supported!

Not only is this a big time saver, but over time you will find that enforcing a naming convention of naming product images by their SKU will save you time managing your legacy image files.

What's more, when you delete a product from your online catalog, this tool will also delete the images assigned to the product helping you manage your product imagery more efficiently over time and mitigating against unwanted hosting overages as “junk” images otherwise pile up on your hosting account over time. This is a big benefit for stores running thousands of products with a catalog that changes over time.

It also plugs into the two options ProductCart offers for uploading and managing your various sized product images:

Version 3.51:

• Settings → Upload Images
• Modify Product → Images

Version 4+:

• Settings → Images & Navigation → Upload Images
• Modify Product → Images

Finally, the add-on also includes options to stroke your images with a black or a white border and to copyright your images with either text (servers running ASPImage) or a watermark logo (servers running ASPJpeg).

This Add-on supports both the standard and Apparel add-on, as well as BTO versions of ProductCart 3.51 through 4.5. Earlier versions have not yet been tested.

Other system requirements are advanced ProductCart system requirements for uploading files and managing images.

This modification will be overwritten by any version updates from Early Impact. However, we have made it very simple to re-customize in such an event. Web Merchant Services makes every effort to isolate the core code of its add-ons and mods from being overwritten by Early Impact updates. We try to keep the time to reinstall to ~ 10 minutes or less, making it really simple to do again if necessary.

Costs may be associated with updates to add-ons we've released on prior versions of ProductCart.

Frankly, the changes to the ProductCart code can sometimes significantly change the code our add-on interacts with. Other times, our add-on is sufficiently “stand-alone” such that little if any adjustments are needed.
